"Still no need for the Plague"

Films: Willard (2003)

Alias: Willard, Ben, Socrates

Type: Natural

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of an average human/average rats.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: If we're going to be, ahem, swarmed by rat movies, we might as well have one of the most recognized remade for the decade. It's the classic tale of a man, and his many rats willing to do anything for him. Anything.

History: Willard Stiles is the same as you remember him. A socially introverted man with a lousy family and a lousier boss. His only friend is a white rat named Socrates, though he gets along with the other many rats in his mansion, such as the burly Ben, who vies for his attention. As Willard's life spirals downhill, the rats become willing to help him enact some good old vengeance...

Notable Kills: One cat vs. hundreds of rats. Guess who wins.

Final Fate: Socrates is killed by Willard's boss, who has the other rats swarm and tear him up. But he remains untrustworthy of Ben, who sics the army on him in retaliation. Willard is forced to kill many of his rats, including Ben, before being sent to an asylum. A white rat shows up to him in his cell, looking a lot like a new Socrates...

Powers/Abilities: None.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-Unlike last time, Ben doesn't survive to create an even larger rat army. But despite that, the rats of Willard are as vicious and numerous as ever! And almost no CGI is needed to make them all.

Trivia: -This film got Willard's actor, Crispin Glover, a nomination for Best Actor in the 2004 Saturn Awards.

-The reason Ben is so large in comparison to the other rats is because he was played by a giant Gambian pouched rat. As for the rest of the rats, over 500 were hired to do this film, all with extensive training and sorted into groups for different roles.
